How to set SMART Goals

Do you have a goal you are trying to reach?

I have found it to be much easier to determine a training plan when I have an end goal in mind.

When will you accomplish it?

Goals need to be specific and measurable.

If you know you have a deadline, you will be much more likely to actually accomplish the goal. Even if your deadline is years into the future.

Here are some steps to help you set up your S.M.A.R.T. goals:

I want to…  (what do you want to accomplish?)

I want to accomplish this by… (How long will this take you?)

To fulfill my goal I will… (What actions will you take to reach your goal?)

I can visualize myself… (What do you see when you accomplish your goal?)

I believe and expect…  (Restate your goal and give yourself positive affirmation that you will accomplish it!)

Now that you have your goal, make sure that you know the steps you are going to take to get to your goal.

What are you going to be able to stick with?

Don’t know how to get there?

Ask someone for help.

Find someone who has already accomplished what you want to do. Or, find a program like those offered by Project Athlete that have a track record of helping people accomplish the goals they are trying to achieve.

Good luck!
